3 weeks

3 weeks post op splenectomy and partial hyst (sorry guys) but it is what it is. 3 weeks of bumping and normal activity on a farm and no bruises. It was nice and I remember what it was like to have a "normal" no freak out day.
Then yesterday happened. Got a scrape that didnt stop bleeding as quickly as the rest in the past three weeks. Popped a zit and it bruised. Woke up with a bloody nose.
Back to my normal now.
See hemo in September. No way am I going back earlier unless I end up in the e.r. and cant avoid it.
I knew it wasnt going to last but what a disappointment just the same.

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like you had to do what you had to do. I hope things get better - sometimes that happens!

I would have posted earlier about it but Im embarrassed I went the route I knew beforehand wouldnt work, even though four hemos all told me the same thing. :blush:
At least Im menstraul free and Im not dead so thats good (Scared to death of hospitals and surgeries).
The surgeon and the gyn both told me that my spleen was 2-3 times larger than it should have been. So I guess it wasnt really helping. ?

Can we pray that you bleed because you scraped yourself and a nose bleed is just a nose bleed!

When your spleen is enlarged that's more than plain old ITP, I think if my spleen was enlarged like that I would strongly consider the surgery too.

I agree with Erica. If the spleen was enlarged, it's possible that it should have been removed anyway.

Four hemo's told you it wouldn't work in raising your counts?

Don't beat yourself up. IMHO you did the right thing. A spleen that enlarged is not a normal situation. Just go forward and do what you can and what you want to do! I have added you to my prayer list! BTW, I think my platelets are tanking a bit too, and I am doing the same thing you are, waiting for my appointment in September! Hang tough!

Four hemos told me I needed to get the surgery. Their reassurances on whether or not it would get my counts up and for how long of course was on the fence. The only thing they can guarantee me is when my next appointment is lol.
