ReNew Life Cleanse and I.T.P. safety? was created by Lady Elly
Has anyone used ReNew Life Cleanse? A nutritionist recommended this product to be used to get rid of toxins. She felt toxins could reduce platelets count.

I would appreciate input in regards to the safety of using a cleanse with I.T.P.
Recently, my platelet count was 15K, which is very low.

Thank you for your input.

What are the ingredients of this product? We'd need to evaluate the ingredients in order to get any sense of the safety in general and in particular regarding ITP. How does it cleanse, does it give you diarrhea? When I get diarrhea, my platelets drop.

What other treatments are you using, and what does your doctor say about the clenase?

Erica,

I have not used it yet, but I did purchase it (a bit expensive). Therefore, I do not know if it will give me diarrhea. I have B12 injections every 2 weeks at the Hematologist/oncologist office. I am not using any traditional treatments and have not had a treatment since November 2011 which was IVIG's. My platelets are 15k and stay low.

I will not see the Hematologist until August. I will not be able to ask him at the present. He doesn't seem to know much about vitamins and herbs. I don't believe he would be able to advise me on this type of product.

The ingredients in the p.m. bottle are: (Made from Organic Herbs) Flaxseed, Buckthorn bark, marshmallow root, Rhubarb root, Triphala and slippery elm bark, Fennel seed, ginger root, papaya leaf, cayenne peeper, coriander seed, cumin seed, gentian root, black pepper, peppermint leaf, and spearmint leaf.

Thank you Erica for any suggestions that you can give me on taking this product.

Erica,

The a.m. bottle of Re New Life first cleanse has different ingredients than the p.m. bottle. It is (organic Herbal Blend)which contains: Burdock root, dandelion root, fenugreek seed, garlic bulb, kelp, dandelion leaf, milk thistle see, turmeric root, artichoke leaf, thistle herb, Echinacea Angustifolia herb, green teal leaf, hawthorn berry, horsetail herb, mullein leaf, nettle leaf, oat straw, Oregano leaf, parsley leaf, red clover herb, wormwood herb, yarrow herb and yellow dock root.

I am not sure about all the herbs if they will cause problems with bleeding?

Thanks again, Erica.

Are there safety concerns?

“Auto-immune disorders” such as such as multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a skin disorder called pemphigus vulgaris, or others: Echinacea might have an effect on the immune system that could make these conditions worse. Don’t take echinacea if you have an auto-immune disorder.

Thanks Melinda. I think LadyElly needs to look up each ingredient to see if there are any contra-indications. At least one ingredient is problematic, the echinacea.

I asked about diarrhea because I thought that's how a 'cleanse' worked but I could be wrong. How exactly does it cleanse you?

Erica & Melinda:

Thank you for your reply. I did look up each ingredient. There were 3 ingredients that could cause an issue. Garlic may cause bleeding & interfere with clotting. Ginger may cause bleeding. Echinacea may interfere with immune functions.

Again, thanks!
