ITP and cold urticaria

ITP and cold urticaria was created by Londonbound
My 16 year old daughter Emma was diagnosed with itp last August. Since this past winter, she has developed what seems to be cold urticaria - hives and redness (similar to purpura) when she's exposed to the cold. She was recently resting her iced coffee on her thigh (wearing shorts) and within minutes developed a huge welt which lasted about an hour. We're seeing the hematologist in 2 days so I'll definitely be discussing this with her. Has anyone else experienced this with their itp?

My 17 year old daughter has ITP, but my son (who does not have ITP) is the one who has cold urticaria. Maybe there is some hereditary connection somewhere...

Trying to explain either condition to people is very difficult as I am sure you have found.
