Maybe pred is the cause of the rash!

Other options if you treat with IVIG, Winrho maybe the donor had a rash?

Maybe you came in contact with something or you are eating something that is making you have a rash.

Since I hate pred and it gave me hives I'll stick to my first thought Pred is giving you the rash! Sure hope test come back normal and when you are completely off of pred all symptoms disappear!

Julia- I've been off pred for a little over a week. Been on it 9 months! My thinking is something like what Sandi said, the pred was covering up allergies and they are coming back. I am allergic to dust and a few other things.

I went to my primary dr today, she suggested going back on pred for a short time, wow I said NO! She took some blood for allergy testing and gave me a referral to a dermatologist I've seen before... But she can't see me until March! Big help.

I went to the health store and got some creams and oils to try, hope something helps the skin around my eyes is all red, swollen.

Next week will see my hema and she will do the other autoimmune disorder testing.

Dru,

I have always had nasal and skin allergies. I have taken several antihistamines but find that Zyrtec works the best for me. Have you tried anything like that?

Hi Valerie,

Yes, I take Zyrtec every morning and benedryl at night. My hema suggested those several weeks ago when my eyes started getting all red. Not sure if it helps or not but am staying on those, can't hurt.

Dru,

I hope you get it all turned around soon! I think the prednisone was covering up the issue. We shall see.

I have a great facial rash going on. I have some topical stuff that helps.

We are now all a Hot Holiday Mess! LOL

Jeff,

My face is really rashy, got a bunch of creams and lotions, they all make it worse. What is the stuff you are using for the rash?

We are a hot mess again!

Dru,

The lotion is call "Simple" It is replenishing and last for 12 hours. It came from Wal Mart. I have a friend that is a pharma there and hooked me up. It is about a 4 ounce bottle and the bottle is white with a green top cap and green lettering. I think it got its name from the fact that I could use it. Thought I would through that out before someone else did!

It made my rash areas a little red for a bit then one day I noticed it was all pretty well gone! Now I use it as I need it. It really is working well for me. My doc told me that I should stick with it if it works as compared to scripted stuff.

Let me know if you need me to post a picture of the bottle.

You feeling ok?

Jeff

Thanks Jeff,
I found that lotion on Amazon and ordered this morning along with items from my daughters Christmas wish list.

I'm feeling very tired and achy, joints and muscles hurt. Hoping it is from pred withdrawal. See my hema Tuesday and she is doing blood work for lupus etc. She was able to get me an appt with a nurse practioner at a derm Dr. office for Monday, so hoping they will be able to give me something for eyes and rash (other than going back on pred)

Getting slack at my work from my little students-"Miss Dru, why are your eyes all red" "Do you have a boo boo on your face", and my personal favorite-"Miss Dru, how old are you, 100?" So obviously am not looking my best!

Dru,

I am so sorry you are going through all this right now. It stinks. When I came off the pred I hurt all over. It faded away and now I am just dealing with the RA pain. Every step and movement hurts at times. I know I am not dealing with what you are managing but I know that with my RA every step hurts. At this point I am still refusing to take anything for it. I may really need stuff later on. I just try to keep pushing through it. The other night I had a pretty good workout I did 11 miles on the bike at a good pace and then a 5 mile run/jog. It hurt.... But being a guy, and a bull headed one at that, I will just ignore the pain as long as I can and keep a going! LOL But I am really starting to think that my days doing long distance stuff may be coming to an end. End of my whine!

Tell me about your rash. Mine is somewhat into my eyebrows and across the bridge of my nose and under both eyes with a little on the cheeks. It sure resembles the butterfly pattern to me. You keep me posted on everything ok?

The rest of the family all ok and doing well?

Jeff

Even you, the king of Positive gets to whine once in a while, it's okay! I'm pretty achy all over too. Joints and muscles all over, knees and ankles the worst. Seems to be getting worse instead of better.....last prednisone was 2 weeks and 2 days ago, but had been on only 2.5 every other day for 2 weeks before that. My rash is very light across both cheeks and forehead. But the skin around my eyes is bright red and swollen. Also have very blotchy skin most of the time, and hair loss. Also weird numbness, tingling, skin crawling sensations.

I'm going to a dermatologist tomorrow am and thinking I will not go to work but will come home and do tons of paperwork that has gotten out of hand and then will not feel guilty for taking a sick day. Right now I look too awful to go to work! Other than tomorrow I will also, like you, push through and not let this stuff get me down!

Tuesday will see my hema and she is going to do blood work for other possible autoimmune disorders. Having both ITP and hemolytic anemia makes it more likely that I have an underlying condition like lupus.
