  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

I have small and medium white blisters all over the inside of my mouth--and many predate my ITP. Mine are the sort that don't go away. Not all doctors and dentists have agreed with my assessment of the situation--I am pretty sure that mine were caused by nuts--walnuts and pecans. If I accidentally eat these and can't wash my mouth out soon enough, then a new one appears.

If you're worried about the blister, have a doctor check it out. I suspect there are many possible causes for your symptom.

It gives me the creeps when people say they have such a high count and are still using Nplate. Guidelines say if the count is over 250 then stop until the count falls to below 150. I don't understand why doctors don't stick to this.

The drug's SPC is here..

Hmmm do you think it could be a reaction to such a high dose of Nplate?

My counts were 198 last week and the hematologistst did not give me Nplate. I kind of argued a little with him because I have been high and by the next week been in single digits so I probably should have had it.Thanks Ann for sharing. I will bring article to the doctor on Tuesday!

Using N-Plate with high counts is just as dangerous as having low counts. Instead of a bleeding risk, you can have a clotting risk.

Those are the manufacturer's UK guidelines. Last time I looked they were different from those issued in the US. Also as you are also taking an immunosuppressant, if that is working your platelets may not be all new and large, and clotting may not be an issue. If the lab looked at how large your platelets are under the microscope, they could tell to some degree if it was the Nplate or the immunosuppressant working.
