Does anyone know of a pain medication that will no drop platelets that is not over the counter? Looking for my hip pain and wanted to talk to my doctor about it, but need to due some research first.

Did they figure out what's wrong yet? If you knew what it was, a drug could be prescribed for that particular thing.

There are different medications for different things. I'd talk to your doctor and see what he thinks.

  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

I take Tramadol (Ultram). I have survived two hip replacements on Tramadol and Tylenol--the only safe-for-ITP pain killers that I can tolerate. (I can't tolerate opiates.) Tramadol is fairly strong, but isn't supposed to be habit-forming. I know other people who take it too. It has been very helpful for me. I've never suffered from any of the possible side-effects--that I know of, anyway.

Oops, Amber, I had knee replacements, not hip replacements. BUT I have had hip pain too, and Tramadol has helped me with all kinds of pain.
