Good Evening Everyone!

Last week I had another CBC and seen my doc. Platelets were at 70k and that was my last day of Prednisone! :) :cheer: :P I have to go back next week for another count. If they stay above 30k or so we will just monitor. If they go back into the 20's I think he wants me to try Rituxan. He is also starting to talk about taking my spleen out. I am not too good with that, but I am not at that point yet.

I have been able to get 11 pounds of the weight off in the last 2 weeks, but it has been a brutal training schedule and a sparse diet, 1400 calories with 3 hour workouts. I am determined! I hope you are all well.

Please let me know if Kate Upton post something looking for me!

Great news about the 70k count! Fingers crossed it stays at that level.

Don't give up your spleen too easily!

Good luck with your training! it's an inspiration.

Did you say 15k as in FIFTEEN? As in GREATER than fourteen?! Yeah, you ARE a serious runner! Good luck. Here's hoping for no snow!

Yaaaaay for 70k and the discontinuation of Prednisone. I am thisclose to being done with that horrible, horrible lil drug.

I still love your positivity! I'm so happy to hear that things are going well for you! :)

Have fun running!

Good Saturday Evening!

Thank you all for the support. I do have to admit that I was hoping Kate Upton dropped me a note... :(

I am now applying Mediterranean diet and cooking along with the Anti Inflammatory diet program to assist in my maintenance of ITP. I am starting to think that it may be working. There is a lot of new research clinical evidence that the Mediterranean Diet really works better than low fat for overall health. The anti inflammatory diet is just dead on accurate! I highly recommend this for everyone! The worse that can happen is that you be healthier and maybe a little lighter!

Great long run tody! 15K was completed.

Sandi, we will be sending you some snow! hahahahahahaha

I was until the darn prednisone put a bunch of weight on me. I have lost about 11 pounds in the last 2 weeks but ramping up the training. I don't know if I will ever take it again.

I agree, I've read so many good things about the Mediterranean diet. I use a LOT of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

I know, snow is coming. 6 to 8 inches they say. Thanks a lot!

Snow wasn't so bad. We got a lot, but it melted quick. Now that's enough!

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, I had another doc appointment yesterday. My platelets were at 44k. All other blood work was just fine. No issues. Right now we are just going to monitor my counts. I do not have to go back to see him for 2 months! :cheer: The plan continues to be that if I have a crash or my symptoms grow in scope then it will be Rituxan.

I feel good, and I am working on losing the prednisone weight! What a job that is! I am now back at the exact count when they found my ITP. The main gain that I have is knowledge and 49 prednisone pounds! I guess I should not complain. It could have been a whole lot worse!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Not bad news at all, Jeff. Stinks to be back where you started, but at least it's above treatment level. 49 pounds! Yikes. You'll have that off in no time though since you are so active.

Good that you have a plan in place just in case.

It's not for everyone, but you can certainly look into this and make your own decision about this diet. I'm transitioning to a raw food diet. After about two weeks of juicing two meals a day, I went on my first juice fast. I drop six pounds in five days. It's been four days since my fast and I only gained one lb which was probably water weight. All in all I lost eight lbs since I started transitioning to raw. Today I restarted my juice fast.

I actually felt great on the fast. I drank as much fruit and veggie juices as I wanted. I also didn't exercise. This week I will.

Anyway. I know this is controversial, but I'm just throwing it out there since it has worked so well for me. It's also been proven to reverse or slow down a host of health issues and allowed people to lower doses or stop taking medications.

I've tried the juicing, but couldn't get the vegetable juice right. It was so horrible I couldn't even choke it down. Which veggies do you use?

If I can get a good vegetable juice, I just might do it for five days or so.

Good Evening!

A topic is up that I do know a considerable amount about, losing weight. when I started my journey with weight loss I was at about 280#,I am now normally at about 180#. It is tough and it takes time, there is no quick route. Fads do not work. As for juicing, I place it with any other diet. If it works and does not make you sick or put in the hospital then good. Losing weight is great! The main thing to remember in weight loss is that a very simple math formula applies, and here it is: Use up 3,500 calories that you take in, you will lose 1 pound. The burn rate of calories is the key, your metabolic rate and exercise play an integral role here. Simply put, exercise and move more, burn more calories, resist the temptation to eat and you will lose more. Very simple! Your body does need energy and I think most people do a pretty good job of supplying the basic needs to the body, where it goes wrong is in sugar and portion control. Here is simply what I done. If you see it advertised on TV don't eat it! If it can be handed to you through a drive through window, don't eat it! Eat your meals on a 6" plate. It looks like more than it is! Drink water!

Now an important caviot! It IS harder for women to lose than men. Though my training I have observed what I believe to be several factors to consider. Women fight hormones which mess everything up! Here a doc may be needed. this is a key factor and not to be dismissed when an honest effort at weight loss is given without results. Most people really do not have a clue about the amount of calories that they really take in. Careful tracking of what goes in the body will typically surprise most people. I have found that most people underestimate their caloric intake by about 40%! Try it, and you will find that I am right.

There is a terrific amount more to talk about on this subject. If you have any desire for support contact me, I will do my best to be of assistance! My sincere wishes for success on your journey!

I typed too fast on the above! Burn up 3500 more calories than you take in and you will lose a pound. When you apply that as a math formula for a week, you can really see what a bad diet day can do to an otherwise very good diet week!

Jeffrey again!

I don't want to diet to lose weight (although that would be nice, I could drop 25). I want to do it for health reasons. Burning calories is hard because right now, even walking across the street to get the mail is a challenge.
