Looks like serious medication: Hydroxyurea may cause severe, life-threatening side effects, including a low blood count (decrease in the number of blood cells in your body). Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had a blood disease.
www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682004.html
And prescribed for some very serious conditions.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

It looks like this medication is used to treat some serious conditions. It might be more beneficial to continue taking the med and deal with the low platelets. You'll have to discuss that with your doctor. Sometimes people have to balance two medical conditions, and if one is more serious than the other, you have to weigh the benefits vs. risks and do whichever is best for you in the long run.
