I have had ITP for many years but never was a problem until now. My current counts range 20-40 and I am 68. I am working with several Hematologists who are OK, but would really like to go the the best in the ITP field for treatement options- As an example, if you have cancer- I would go to MAYO, MD Anderson, or Johns Hopkins. What is the centers/doctors for excellence for ITP.. Can anyone provide suggestions.

I actually see 2 separate hematologists at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center for my ITP. One of them I go to his clinic weekly for my blood work and Nplate shot and the other one ITP is one of her specialties. I highly recommend Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, TN!

Most of the doctors on this board are the top specialists in the United States. That could also be a start for you.

I would say anywhere where the doctor is familiar with all current ITP treatments and has treated a few ITP patients. Bigger does not necessarily mean better. I agree with DeeDee as far as a starting point.
