deeply divided on splenectomy was created by Mark
Came across a paper that may be of interest, entitled

Understanding why patients with immune
thrombocytopenia are deeply divided on
splenectomy

I'll try to upload it, but I seem to have trouble uploading attachments, so I'm not sure this will work

The reference is

Health Expect. 2012 Aug 7. doi: 10.1111/j.1369-7625.2012.00806.x. [Epub ahead of print]
Understanding why patients with immune thrombocytopenia are deeply divided on splenectomy.
Wang KK, Charles C, Heddle NM, Arnold E, Molnar L, Arnold DM.

the website is (not sure if it is free)

- not sure if the paper is free, but here is the link

I can't access it. That's a shame because I would have LOVED to read it!

(although this text was not in my last final post.)

Any advice on what I am doing wrong?

Yes! Read it, thanks!

I must say I'd hoped it would be longer. It actually made me want to write my own version of that topic and be very in-depth. Maybe that will be my project once I am done with my job next week. I would ask for opinions from members and also quote articles and statistics. Could make for an interesting read.

I've read something like that before, it might have been the longer version of that one or something else but I can't remember. But the overriding impression I got was that the authors were all for splenectomy and any patient who disagreed was, according to them, not understanding the issues. The article annoyed me intensely as you can imagine.

Sandi,

If you are ever sat twiddling your thumbs in your more relaxed future............. I always wonder how many of the members who are listed as "parents of children with ITP" actually have children who have recovered, and to what extent they have recovered. Just if you're ever bored!!!
