Howdy folks. I just got out of the hospital from a one week stay trying to get my platelets above 12k. All my veins have blown or moved from scar tissuse and overuse :( Doctors put a PORT in me 3 days ago on my right side. When I turn my head or stretch my head I can someties feel the tubing. I can constantly feel the port as well. I think it may just be because I am so flat chested that any weight is noticable to me. Has anyone else felt their PORTS or know of anyone that has? The nurses all told me I wouldn't notice it at all, that is the only reason I am asking.

Hi - my port bothered me for the first couple of weeks, but now (not quite a month later), I can't feel it at all. At first, it bothered me to sleep on my right side (as I've done my whole life). I wrapped my body around an extra pillow for a week or so. Now, it's just fine, and I can sleep normally. Give it a little time, but do let your doctor know if it doesn't go away.

Best of luck!!

I've had my port in now for 4 weeks. Today off and on all day when I move a certain way the top of my port stings, I think where the tube goes into my vein. Is this normal? Has anyone delt with this?

I have had 3 ports in over the years. The first one moved around in the pocket it wa sewn into I could feel it and so could medical staff they agitated it so much it filled up with fluid and had to be removed. The next one was sewn in a lot tighter and dint give the tube much room for moving at all but I could feel it and I am a big girl all over. They removed it after a year. I didnt need another for a while but the 3rd one was a nightmare and the tube ended up getting broken off between my clavacel and rib and 5 cm of tube went to within 3 cm of my heart and I had to have an angiogram to have it removed..under twighlight sedation and local. I Have pic line put in now when I need a few weeks of treatment..no more ports for me. Mos people it settles down in and it depends on how deep it is sewn in and when the swelling goes down after its put in it can move a little and tug possible causing your stinging
