hematoma question

Hi All,
I have had ITP for the past 4 years with counts normally ranging from 70-110, with a couple dips into the 20s/30s. Lately, my counts have been pretty stable around 100, this after treating with prednisone (have been off for about 2 weeks). I do tend to bleed easy, with bruising, petechiae, sponanteous nose and gum bleeds even in the 80s. My last count last week was just over 100.
Today, I had to have a mole removed from my neck. I noticed about 2 hours after that I had a pretty good size hematoma on my neck where they injected me with lidocaine and removed the mole. Is there any concern with this? Do I need to talk to the dr who removed the mole, or my hematologist to let them know what has happened? Or is this something that just heals on its own? In all of my experience with ITP, I haven't had any hematomas, except the occasional tiny one with blood draws. This one is a pretty good size, and pretty dark.
Should I be concerned? Any input on what I should do, if anything, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hematomas usually resolve on their own. If it's big though, you may want to check with the doctor who removed the mole.

Homeopathic Arnica Montana 30X or 30C will help your body reabsorb the blood quickly. It may even help with your other bruises (though Arnica is usually better for bruises from injury. Phosphorus is better for spontaneous bruising. ). Arnica is the new "secret weapon" for most plastic surgeons these days, as it quickly reduces the pain, swelling, bleeding and bruising. Homeopaths have been using it for over 200 years, and finally conventional doctors are discovering it.
The only caution is if you use it topically, do not apply to broken skin-just the area near it. Taking it internally works best for this. Tap 1-2 pills into the cap (not 5 like it says on the vial), and tip under your to gue. They are sweet, taste good, as the carrier is a sugar pill. You might take it 3 times/day for a couple days. Stop taking anymore onceyou notice marked reduction in the hematoma.

If the Arnica doesn't help, another possible remedy would be Ledum palustre 30X or 30C, taken in same manner.
I had a hemorrhage in my eye from a car accident. It was startling to look at. Arnica reabsorbed it all in less than a day. Usually those take a long time to go away.

I had lidocaine in my neck twice over the summer for epidural steroid injections. I got interesting hematomas both times, and they went away on their own. I guess I've gotten used to those sorts of things and only occasionally bring them to the attention of my docs.

Hi ,

all my hematomas ( Since diagnosis in '96 )
have also resolved by themselves , just takes longer for me than others without platelet disorders . Doesn't mean you shouldn't get it checked out though , especially if it
is causing you much stress.

thanks
SuperDave
