I'll try it, perhaps it will take the edge off the prednisone. I usually can sleep but sometimes too wired.

I would think drinking tea before bed would have one up a lot over night using the bath room :)

One of my pet hates is manufacturer's calling something tea when it has no tea in it. It's a chamomile and mint tisane. Humph!

Please do some reading up on it before trying it. The ingredients can have side effects, so check with your Dr. first. Not sure how it would interact with Prednisone.

Hmmm. Interesting. I've been taking Advil PM before bed. That's been working for me.

I think they call it tea as it is in a tea bag.

I occasionally drink Sleepy Time "tea", as I am supposed to avoid caffeine, so I'll sometimes have a cup around bedtime, instead of decaf coffee.

I tried it because I've always liked chamomile, and I wanted a hot, decaffeinated beverage, but frankly, what I really like is the drawing on the box of that cute little Sleepy Bear, sitting in his rocking chair in his nightcap by the fireplace! Just looking at the box relaxes me!

Yeah, the drawing is kind of relaxing. I have seen that there is a Sleepy Time Extra now. Has Valerian, which is supposed to be a natural sleep aid. Have not found instore yet. Only on WalMart.com.

Hi Dean,

Yes I just recently tried the Sleepy Time Tea and I didn't care for it. I didn't like the peppermint in it. I too have sleep issues and I'm up constantly throughout the night. Paranoia has now set in because every medication I look at I think "will this affect my platelets", like I said I'm paranoid. I'm afraid to take anything. It's terrible. I have tried the warm milk, chamomile tea, take a hot bath at night, I even bought this cherry juice which they say is good for sleep. Nothing has worked. I have a prescription for Klonopin which was given for anxiety and to many the medicine makes them sleepy. Klonopin takes the edge off but does not make me sleep through the night. I even wake up at the same time at night.

Hi Kim.

Yeah it is not the best tasting stuff and it does not always work for me. I usually have to use two bags when I use it. I want to try the Sleepy Time Extra. It has an ingredient that is supposed to help one relax better. I have worked nights for 18 years and it is really difficult to sleep on my nights off. Even when I get home after work, I can be exhausted but cannot fall asleep. Have tried several sleep aids, both prescription and otc. The best one so far has been Trazodone, but I got tired of the "hangover" from it when I woke up. Seems that I do better with only 4 hours of sleep vs taking something. Wish you could overcome the paranoia, that would make it a lot easier. I understand it though.

Wine coolers usually make me sleepy. Maybe will have to try that.

I tried a lot of things after having trouble sleeping on Promacta. In all honesty, my doctor gave me a script for Valium. If I can't get to sleep, 1/4 to 1/2 of a pill does the trick. Since it isn't required very often, it's not a big deal.
If I still can't get to sleep.....well, I can always watch an hour of C-Span on TV.

I, too, take a Klonopin at night to help me sleep. I also turn the Tv on with the timer set. This usually helps me to get to sleep. I've always had a sleep problem--but it is now a lot better than when I was younger. And, it is really difficult to treat my insomnia as certain meds meant to make you sleep actually keep me awake!

Here's a weird new thing I'm doing that helps me sleep, I have netflix streaming on my iPhone and I watch old episodes of a sitcom I love in bed. My glasses are off, the phone doesn't light up the room - I always fall asleep in the middle of an episode. There are 100+ episodes on netflix of this show (30 Rock) and after I got to the end I started from the beginning again. Hey whatever works right? I also take meds to sleep and this lets me keep the meds at a minimum.

I have also sang the Lord's prayer and recited the Apostles' creed in my head when having trouble getting to sleep. I find that this does help me relax and go to sleep.

Eklein,
I, too, watch Netfix at night. I have a lot of my favorite episodes that I watch. For some reason, this helps me to sleep. I just turn on the TV timer.

I agree with DeeDee Marie that prayer truely helps me relax. Also, counting my many blessings helps me soon fall asleep.
