Does having a glass of wine a day lower platelets?

No it doesn't. Alcoholics can have a problem with platelets but social drinking is fine.

To my knowledge alcohol does not cause Platelets to drop, but if counts are low I would be careful. I did not consume any alcohol when first diagnosed with counts 30k>. Now with normal counts, I have went overboard a few times. I usually have 3-6 beers on the weekends with no issues. Go ahead enjoy!

What is a normal count? The last CBC I had, on This past Tuesday, I noticed that they raised the normal range to: 158 on the low side. It used to be 140 on the low side.

It depends on the lab. Both of those numbers are close. I believe that in order to be diagnosed with ITP, they now use 100 and below as the platelet count standard.
