A blood transfusion from a person with ITP will cause ITP in the recipient - but it might only last a short time in the recipient.

We've had discussion threads before about whether we can donate blood and the answers have been mixed.

I think donating blood or organs from an ITP patient presents a risk to the recipient at a time when they are possibly already very ill. But I bet it is hard to find a clear answer.

Are any organ donations relatively free of donor blood? What about corneas for example?

I wish Simon was still around.

Interesting - I know that Brady wouldn't be able to donate blood. But we went to get his learner's permit last week and he checked the box about being an organ donor. Now I'm wondering if that's not even feasible. I guess I'll have to call his hematologist and see what she says.

It would also depend on the treatments a person has had. I'll try to remember to ask the people at the top.

My Dr said it depends on the organ and the donation guidelines. There are some strict guidelines they follow, but it is possible.
