Tooth Implant was created by thuathien
My dentist proposed me to do tooth implant. I checked with my hematalogist, and she said the platelet count must be at least 50. My question is that if anyone with ITP did implants? and what is the result? Thanks!

No one has answered you so I will. I never had a tooth implant but had the option of an implant, a bridge or try to save the tooth via surgery [cutting through gum & bone to get to the root] - I decided to save the tooth. My endodontist wouldn't touch me without a current and good count.

My doctor also said 50k was needed for dental work. My dentist was willing to work with less, she said she was confident about controlling the bleeding. I waited until I had 50k because it wasn't urgent so I was happy to postpone dental work...

I had asked my dentist this a while back and he told me over 50 and we would be good to go. Thankfully, I haven't needed any work done.

IMO, It's an individual thing...everyone is different.
I'm currently looking at the possibility of a couple implants as well. My dentist has zero problems with doing it. I've also had several crowns replaced and a couple of root canals during my ITP adventure. Heck, just last March I had a molar surgically removed, it was a total non-event. No one made a fuss about platelet counts and the socket healed quite well without any issues.
My count is generally in the 40k-50k range on a 50mg Promacta treatment.
