Sleep disturbances

Sleep disturbances was created by plopper
Hi friends!
I've been great for awhile, but from the looks of the bruises on my arms and the petechiae, I'm guessing I'm down again.:( I've lost 2 hematologists in the last six months, and it bums me out. I see a new one Monday and will get a count done.

I've been wearing a BodyBugg to see how many calories I burn, and it also tracks your sleep efficiency. In the last week, my sleep efficiency has gone from 90% to 60%. I always suspected that when my counts drop, it affects my sleep(waking a lot, no deep sleep), and now I think I can say that with more authority. (For me)

Anyone else notice sleep disturbances during drops?

The only issue I have when my counts are really low ( under 5) is night sweats which cause me to wake up. Sorry to hear your counts are dropping and nothing worse than not getting proper rest!!

  • Diagnosed in 2000, at 59, after being on moderately high doses of NSAIDs for arthritis. Splenectomy and rituxan both failed (2004). Did well on prednisone till summer 2018--then terrible reactions. Promacta since 11-19.

Sleep is a gift--one I don't have. But I don't think my frequent insomnia is related to ITP.

Kim is good! She doesn't come here anymore...her platelets have been good since the transplant. We still e-mail once in a while.

How are you other than night sweats?

I'm so glad to hear about Kim.

I'm covered in bruises (we have a new puppy who plays and jumps on me, and I love her to pieces, but I look like a soft peach).

I have petcheai everywhere, and I've had some mild dizziness. It's crazy. I can't believe I'm waiting 3 days to see a hema, but my last two moved away, so they gave me to him.

I can't decide if I want to do a short round of Pred, or start back on the NPlate. NPlate worked for me, but I hated the spacy crawly scalp feeling and the dizziness and headaches. Plus, the NPlate made my platelets go too high - 1.2 million at one point. I'm traveling quite a bit this spring and sumer, and I don't want to be tied down to a weekly shot. Plus, I don't know if our new screwy insurance will cover it. So, we'll see. If it doesn't, I'll do pred. I'm pretty lucky that I respond to most treatments.

You doing ok?

We have a new puppy too. She's 4 months old. I posted pics in the Social Section if you want to dig it out. Miss Bailey is her name. My counts are normal and I have bruises from her too. What kind of dog do you have?

I could fill a book writing about me. My basic update is also in the Social Section in Methotrexate Journey. Loooong story. Two problems these days - Lupus and cervical stenosis. Not sure which is worse. I told my kids they better start having babies because I'm getting decrepit and decayed like the ancient ruins.
