We are in waiting hopefully to start Promacta for my daughter, age 20 with recurring ITP. We are in process to start Promacta; however, upon reducing the prednisone, platelets have been increasing. Just found out that she has high Factor 8. They are repeating the test on 5/17. I know nothing about this. Can anyone clue me in what this might mean?

I went to bing.com and searched for it. It has something to do with hemohilia, you know, a blood disorder! Sorry, not a whole lot of time right now to reasearch more. actually there is a website www.factor-8.org .

I went to the website but it deals with hemophilia (low factor 8). Actually my daughter has high Factor 8, which I think can lead to clotting problems. That is why they are running the test again on 5/17. It may mean that we can't do Promacta - I just don't know at this point. I can't find much about high Factor 8.

Gay go to google and put in the search box: high factor 8
You will come up with some sites - there is one from the blood journal
and one from NIH.

I hope the 1st test was wrong and your daughter does not have a high Factor 8!
