Does anyone else crave ice due to low iron? I know it has nothing to do with Platelets but was just wondering.... I crave ice all of the time... and NO I am NOT pregnant :laugh:

Prednisone 10 mgs
Imuran 50 mgs
Rituxan 2005 and 2008 (can't take anymore, body rejected it)

I had ice pica with low iron while pregnant. (I told the doc I must be dehydrated because I wanted ice all the time, and chose restaurants based on which ones had the best crushed ice in the drinks. I was surprised it was anemia instead.) I took iron supplements for it, and it went away. Any time I crave ice now, I watch my diet a bit more carefully for the next few days, and try to take in more vitamin C and iron. (The C helps absorb the iron.)

I have never heard of that before. Thanks for letting me know... Pica hmmm. its nice to have someone to talk about it with because everyone here thinks I'm crazy :silly: which is party true...:P

Nope - not crazy. It's true! There were times I carried a cup of ice everywhere I went.

I craved Milk, I always hated milk,never ever drank it, when my platelets fell I couldn't get enough milk to drink, now that they are up again the cravings are gone
