I am thinking about getting on prednisone to see if that will help my plattlets but have been reading a lot about hair loss and prednisone. Does this happen often?

Depends on the dose and how long a person is on it.

I was on 60 mg's for a few weeks and did not experience any hair loss at all.

Even if it did, weigh the thin/bald impact vs the possibility of a Rx that could improve your ITP. Anxiety of baldness vs ITP - I'd choose bald.

Seriously though, I thought the other side effects were worse than the possibility of losing some hair. Benefit vs risk....

I had more hair breakage on prednisone, but I don't think that overall there was a visible difference except maybe more broken off pieces. And I think it helped me grow back my bald spots.
