Fish Oil??? Other supplements/viatmins

Hi Everyone,

I read in one of the PDSA articles that some people, with ITP take fish oil pills. I know that they are a blood thinner, but I have heard that the good outweighs the bad when it comes to fish oil.

Any opinions? I do take them now, along with b-12, calcium, a multi-vitamin, iron, and L-Arginie.

Just looking for opinions, thank you.

Jessica

Jessica you posted this in the PDSA News & Forum Suggestions section - maybe it would be better if you posted this in the Adults with ITP section under General Discussion.

I am leery of fish oil - I had to stop taking a multi-vitamin because of the vitamin E in it, once I stopped taking it I stopped having blood vessels break in my hands.

But that's me - I haven't taken fish oil as a supplement because of the above.

I moved the thread.

It would depend on your counts and symptoms, I suppose. If counts are above 50, it would probably be safe.

I was told by a hematologist specializing in ITP that fish oil was not advisable for me because of my ITP.
