Mom's ITP

Mom's ITP was created by hlk321
My mom was diagnosed with ITP after having many test done including a bone marrow. Her current count is 92,000. Her hematologist has not recommended any type of treatment for her. She was just recently diagnosed with melanoma stage 3 and will soon have Interferon as a treatment. Does anyone have experience with this? Will this treatment affect her count levels? Is there something else that should be done?

Your Mom's count is quite good. I don't know how Interferon will affect her counts, but I do remember it being used for ITP a few times (not very often). Most people can tolerate counts above 30,000 pretty well without treatment, so she's doing well right now in that regard.

92,000 is an awsome count, It's hard to know what medications and treatments will affect the platelet count, i guess it is just trial and error really, hope they do manage to stay up cause if they are that high, she won't really need treatment at all.
