Large Platelets- was created by Sorenna1
It seems that many of us have large platelets. From what I understand, they are immature platelets. Because platelets are destroyed in ITP after they leave the bone marrow they tend to be large because ITP kills them before they mature.

Has anyone else had issues with large platelets? Or do they have any more info or corrective info?

Reticulated platelets.. they aren't really immature in a sense as they are very good at doing what they are supposed to do which is why we don't bleed as much as others with 'normal' thrombocytopenia who have a mix of new and old platelets.

Lots of new platelets which are more sticky than older ones tend to clot which is why when on the TPO drugs, Nplate and so on, we don't want too many.
