I'm recently diagnosed - 6 weeks - and have had a roller coaster of 3 hospitalizations in that time period.   Was referred to the on call hematologist at 1st ER visit.  Currently on Rituximab and it seems to be working so far after 2 treatments.  I am wondering if anyone knows of a hematologist in Calgary who is familiar with ITP.

I can't help you with that as I'm in NB, but I know there are a couple of members from Alberta. Hopefully one of them will see this and let you know.
Good luck.

  • I was diagnosed in summer of 2024 and had a good response to my first treatment in late February 2025. I work from home for a library technology company, enjoying our home in the woods west of North Carolina's Research Triangle

I hope your rituximab treatment continues to work. My course of rituximab was completed six weeks ago after two drops to hospitalization levels less than two months apart.

Thanks, and happy to hear that your response to the rituximab has been good! My readings are still ok, but have been sliding steadily since the treatments - got up to 160, now at 105 - so unsure if this will be my solution. The doctor says it still could kick in and stabilize, but is starting to talk about the next step so I'll have to do my research.
