My sons ITP is back after 3 years was created by Evansmom1
My son was diagnosed with acute ITP at age 12, platelets hovered around 30 for about 6 months and then went back up. Now it’s 3 years later. I took him to his Dr cause he was feeling tired and depressed. Platelets are now at 14. I didn’t know this could come back! Is this common to show up periodically?
Thank you in advance, this is just upsetting news.

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.

The UK ITP Support Association suggests that about one in 20 children will have a further occurrence in the future.
