Would like to know if it is safe to take Melatonin 1 - 3 mg.? It is very difficult to sleep, usually 4 hours than awake 3 hours,
I have I.T.P. and my platelets most of the time are between 3k to 10 k for past 10 years.
If you have any experience or input on Melatonin, I would appreciate it.
Thank you,

Hi Elly,
I have the same issue too( sleep). My platelets are somewhere in the 30K range without treatment and I take .5 mg melatonin everyday and that gives me 4 hours of sleep :) There is one more thing that I bought on amazon with valerian root and that seemed more effective in getting to sleep but I use it only occasionally as I m not sure of how it would affect platelet count .

Thank you for your reply. Recently I am using Melatonin 1. mg which is helping me to get a few hours sleep. But I do feel a bit sleepy during the day. I had been drinking cokes for many years and recently quit due to acid reflux. I am sure that not having the cokes is a reason I do not feel alert.
