I was thinking last night about my up coming surgery. I remembered that they ask you if you have an objection to receiving blood or blood products before you have elective surgery. Should you refuse to receive platelets but accept all other blood products in an emergency? If it was a life threatening situation should they give you platelets and hope for the best afterwards?
