ITP and dengue fever was created by Peanut Mommy
Moving to an area with Dengue fever and concerned about my newly diagnosed ITP. My count as of today is 66k. Anyone have experience with ITP in an area where hemorrhagic fever is prevalent?

You are concerned about contracting Dengue fever and making ITP worse, or, is it you are concerned that your ITP was caused by the fever?

What did the doctor say about your question?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Concerned about bleeding during dengue fever. Has anyone had experience living with ITP in a dengue area?

Peanut Mommy - I've seen dengue fever mentioned here before but I don't know if anyone had a problem with it & their ITP.

Have you clicked on the Search tab above and done a search?

Yes, Melinda, Dengue fever has been mentioned here, in discussions about papaya leaf extract, which is used to increase platelet counts in dengue fever patients.

No, those symptoms are not related to ITP, but could be related to steroids or steroid withdrawal. How long have you been off of them?

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.

Presumably you took prednisolone, what dosages did you take during those 2 months?
Did you follow a tapering protocol?
Shaking legs and hands is definitely a withdrawal symptom believe me.
See my new topic for a very good description of steroid withdrawal and its associated problems

If it's not steroid related, then something else might be going on. I'd see your GP and talk to him/her about it.
