Diagnosed in January was created by Gshelton
Hello,

I got diagnosed in January after being admitted to the hospital with a count of 3. After a transfusion, three nights of IVIG and a lot if steroids I got to go home. I'm now living with the week to week blood work. It's so frustrating. I started the nplate a couple of weeks ago and have had at least 4 shots. They keep having to up my dosage. My numbers jump from 60 to 7 in a week. SO FRUSTRATING. I don't have anyone around me that has any idea what I'm going through and while I have family and friends being supportive, it's not the same. Luckily I am no longer on steroids but it's still so challenging.

Sorry for the rant!

Stick with N-Plate for a while. It does seem to be working. The injections are usually dosed just to keep patients around 50k. Some people end up switching to Promacta because it is more of a steady dose (daily) and they don't have the sudden drops. It can take time to get stable on either of those. ITP takes patience and I know that is hard.
