Ahhhh so stressful. 5 months ago back in August I was told I had ITP, my platelet count was at ZERO !!! After weeks and months of seem to be useless treatments and having my spleen taking out only after the 1st 3 weeks of having this blood disorder. My platelet count is still bout 12,000 now , only bein as high as 22,000.
My Doctor only seem to care about getting my count up to 50,000 which hasnt happen yet... I n the meantime its a struggle everyday to find enough energy to go on during the day and evening. Im so tired from the time I get to work bout 7am til I go to sleep at night. My dr says low platelets WONT cause a person to be fatigue. But I knw he is wrong, I have it constantly..Ugh
I just want em to find out the reason I have this , as everyone dealing with this problem does !!!!

Some people have fatigue with low counts and some do not. It seems to be an individual thing. One thing I have noticed is that a good bit of the time, some people find that they have another medical disorder that can cause the fatigue. Examples are: Low B-12, Low potassium, thyroid disorder, low Vitamin D, etc. Some people have also found that B-6 can help with energy levels.

Some of the treatments can also cause fatigue, namely Prednisone. It can last for months after you stop taking the drug.

Other than having more tests done though to rule out other things, there isn't much you can do about it. Actually, staying active (taking walks, etc) can also help.
