PLATELETS COUNTS KEEP DROPPING was created by victoriah
Im very concerned my daughter was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia and being treated for it, but unfortunately her platelets keep dropping. Initially when she was diagnosed with this problem it was at 60 now they seem to be reducing every week. This morning she had an appointment with Hema and he told her they are now at 18, that would be classified danger zone i would think? She said before he can treat the platelets it has to drop down to 10. Im really confused as to why he would want to wait till then? :(

Victoriah - doctors treat at different levels sometimes based on symptoms. 18 isn't necessarily a danger zone. Some might feel uncomfortable at that count, but others can do just fine.

Hi Sandy
My daughter has already had one blood transfusion and is due for another in a weeks time. She also has B12 injections weekly and she seems to be feeling more energetic. Her red blood cells are higher than her last test but still low. How will this low platelet problem be fixed? I'm so worried :(

Victoriah - I can't really help you since I don't know how Aplastic Anemia is treated. It is much different than ITP.
