dexamethasone/decadon and side effects was created by destinygreenfield
So I'm in the hospital receiving IVIG and decadon steriods (40mg a day) and I'm peeing A LOT. They began to measure it and the nurse said its way too much. I'm feeling very thristy, having heart palpitaions (fast heart beat). Just walking to the bathroom made me heart go from 95 to 135. My back where my kidneys are is beginning to ache and it seems like I'm dehydrated. Well my question is has anyone else had these problems with any steriods? I'm also starting to experience a lot of dizzyness to where I feel like I might pass out. The nurse told the drs but no one has come to talk to me yet. They only gave me meds for the heart palpitations. I think I'm going to refuse anymore decadon. What do u all think? Am I right? I've never had any of these problems bafore the steriods.

Decadron is a powerful steroid. They may cause a rise in blood sugar - have they tested that? You could also have a UTI. See what the doctor says. Some of the side effects could be due to both IVIG and Decadron.

Well as far as I know they haven't tested my sugars since I started decadron but before that I believe they did and all was noraml. I was also tested for a uti and it was negative. I felt fine when I was just receiving IVIG but even last week when I was on decadron I was having problems but the dose was much less than it is now. It only started after I began taking decadron again.

You should talk to the doctor. Hopefully, he/she will be in to see you.
