My Vitamin D level is still low - 29.6, so I'm back on 50,000 IU's for six weeks. I have a feeling this won't do much either. It didn't the last time. What's up with that?

I'm not good at knowing this stuff at all, and I'm sure you've already thought about this but here goes anyway! I know that some vitamins you have to take with other vitamins for them to be absorbed properly. I dunno. Just a thought.

So once the 6 weeks is up what happens? Do you drop to a lower dose, get tested again, what?

What is the norm low for your lab?

I'm supposed to get retested. The low norm is 30 and I was at 29.6, but the high end of the range is something like 120, so I have a loooong way to go. The doctor and I both agreed that I should at least get to 50 considering the long-term steroid use.

My lab range is 30-100. In the past year I have gone from 30 to 44 with 1000 IUs a day - MD feels that is fine for me.

Hope yours comes up - if so then will he keep you on this dose or lower it or ?

I'm not sure. The 50,000 IU's I took for 12 weeks last year didn't do much, so I don't know what it's going to do this time. I also take 800 IU's daily plus Calcium with 400 IU's of D - it doesn't help either.

I take Caltrate + D Plus Minerals calcium 2x a day so that is 400 IUs x2 - and take the 1000 IUs of D3 1x a day.
