Have you heard of anybody getting ITP from plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) which is in quinine family and quinine can cause platelets to drop?

No, I haven't, but quinine will only cause counts to drop if a person has antibodies against it. It doesn't really cause ITP, it causes thrombocytopenia. Thrombocytopenia due to quinine is generally sudden and temporary and counts will rise once the quinine is stopped (usually within a week).

I've taken Plaquenil for 11 years and have not had a platelet problem. In fact, my ITP ended when I started taking it.
