Just diagnosed was created by Alex
Hey, my names Alex and I have just been diagnosed with ITP. My platelet count is under 10k. i've only had it for about two weeks. I have petechiae bruising mostly on my legs. I can't do basketball or any of the sports I usually play. Any one with similar problems?

Wow TTP is rare too but so much worse I think. I'd rather have ITP I think.

Are you having treatment or are you on the watch and wait regime?

Sorry to hear, I found out I had ITP back in June. Spent the first long weekend of the summer in hospital. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that it was a one time thing. If not I won't be able to play rugby this year. Which really bites cause I was looking forward to it not to all the running and crazy drills my coach thinks up but the whole hitting people is a major stress reliever. lol

By the way I hope you don't have to find out for yourself but the IVIG isn't too bad. Just make sure you have a lot of fluids and something to eat before you have the treatment otherwise... well weird stuff happens. The headaches can be terrible if your lucky you won't get any but if not I'd ask for anti-nausea medicine as soon as possible. And how do you react to morphine?
