I have a friend with ITP. was created by Robyn
So, this guy I dated and am now friends with (sorta.... it's complicated) has ITP. And I guess I was wondering what I could do to help him and I was hoping to find out more about it.

I know it sounds a bit silly, but I really care about him and I want to know if there is any way I can help besides the obvious of being a good friend and being there for him. I know his counts keep skyrocketing and then dropping and I guess I'm just.... worried. I was doing google searches to see if there were any cures or effective treatments found yet in the world and I found this group, so I figured the members here might be able to help me in my hunt or something.

Sorry, this was a bit of a messy post, but I just don't really know what to do....

Also, don't know if this would help at all, but, despite my icon being a union jack, I'm actually in the US along with him. So, yeah.... Like I said, might not be important.

Robyn:

You're being a good friend already. There isn't much you can do...there is no cure, only treatments. All of the treatments are effective, they just don't work for everyone. Most people try several before they find the one that works best for them. It might be helpful to know that people can live normal lives with ITP and it is very, very rare to die from it.

Usually, the hardest part about having ITP is going through the treatments and side effects. It's hard for family and friends to understand that part, so just being there and letting him talk is the best thing you can do.
