meds/vitamins to avoid in remission? was created by bdettel
Hi everyone,

My daughter is in remission from ITP.

Are there known things I shouldn't give my daughter ... any specific vitamins or types of medicines?

thanks so much.

I(my son)am new to ITP. He is still undergoing treatments ect. I don't know about vitamins, but I do know that anything with a blood thinning agent is to be avoided WHEN you have ITP. Motrin, asprin and alot of cold/cough meds. have them.I am trying some natural things with my son right now. Just started them yesterday. I have talked to 1 Dr. and our chiropractor about the vitamins/suppliments and none of them said that he couldn't take them. Now, these are the ones you would find at your healthfood store, not the "exotic" ones from Vietnam or China and places like that. I have also looked into Hoeopathy a little, but haven't tried that yet.I know I didn't give you alot of info, but I hope I helped some! SO great that she is in remission :) I wish you all the best and continued health!

Hi, it's me again! Just replied to your post! I should add that you should ask your daughter's Dr. what he/she recomends.

Since there is no absolute known cause for ITP, one could go crazy trying to sort out what she should, or should not, ingest, but this is probably the best guideline available, but even so, there's a whole bunch of "possibly" here:
