Im trying to sort out why my son had a horrible reaction to the methylpred pulse they gave him (that didn't work), hem docs say its the methyl part that he reacted too, and I believe that because now with oral pred he's fine....my question lies in is the "methyl" in methylpred methylhydrate??? And is there any relation to the "meth" part of Dexamethasone???? Isn't that a stupid question? The reason Im asking is because my best friend who's son is medically fragile, arrested when put on Dex and my son almost arrested when put on Methylpred....so anyone have any ideas???? Maybe ill have to call my pharmacist and ask, but you are all so knowledgeable (er) than me, so I figured Id ask.... :S

First of all, that is not a stupid question at all. There is so much that is unknown that you need to be doubly careful when dealing with medications, treatments, etc. While this group is amazing for peer support and sharing experiences, I would caution getting any information on this topic from anyone other than your Doctor, Pharmacist, etc. While we have big hearts and good intentions, questions such as this really should be answered by the professionals.

Good luck,

JJ
