Well , Hello Everyone,
Have'nt been on here for quite awhile...Like 9 yrs. I have popped in once or twice looking for info but thats about it.
after nine yrs of excellent counts with maybe a dive or two.. and I'm talking maybe 60s at the lowest.
after many yrs of diagnostics my son was finally Dxed with CVID with a Pulmonary disorder...ITP has always been in the back ground ,its very popular with the immune deficency people. they concider it the 1 st hiccup in his immune system.
He has been doing vivaglobin SubQ for 2 yrs and has been very healthy..then bang .3 wks ago his platelete decided to take a nose dive down to 2. after winRho he went up to 170 and then dived back down to 7 ,another infusion of Winrho and only 16..
Wierd thing about all this.. We ended up in the ER with abdonmial pain which ended up being appendicitis. Had to tell the ER Dr. "your not touching him" seems they don't ever listen to people or read.
He was amitted ,given anti-biotics and did have his appendics out the next day after consulting his hemo..his count was 23... pre-op was kinda cool with the organized choas..he was given plateletes throu-out surgery and they had units of blood on stand-by..it was a 1st for our local peds surgery center to have a kid in the middle of a platelete crash with a appendectomy surgery, so all the nurses and Dr. were on thier toes.
I have asked and asked if the appendics had anyhting to do with his platelet fall and I have gotton two answers. some say yes and some say no...His immunologist has doubled his viva dosage..that is not going to go over well.
Well, that is my story for now.
plateletes to all...Patty
