Anyones elses children get these symptoms was created by cassie thompson
Every time Graces counts go down she has a hard time sleeping and acts restless all night. I keep telling the docter this when it happens and have been told by every Docter, hemo, and nurse that it is not a ITP symptom. I know I am not just imagining this. I feel so frusterated because they are not listening to me. It seems like they would start checking her for something else possibly being wrong if they are thinking it is not a ITP symtom. Is this a symptom that anyone else has experienced.

They always keep telling me that feeling tired and fatigued is not a symptom of low platelets, but i also find when i am really tired, my platlets are usually low.

and do you have a hard time sleeping? Like you feel really tired and want to sleep but can't.

Now that u mention it, i never have never connected it before, but i do seem to have a lot of trouble falling asleep initially. Once i am asleep i can sleep pretty much most of the night, but i do find that when my head hits the pillow of a night, i am tossing and turning a lot before i actually fall asleep, sometimes it is at least an hour or so before i am asleep, i usually go to sleep about 10:30pm on work nights and find i am still awake at 11:30pm or sometimes even after that.

My teen had a hard time sleeping when counts were low. She would be fatigued and grumpy, yet couldn't sleep. Folks on here are always saying their doctors disagree that it is a symptom of ITP, but there are too many on here who find it so. Also, there seems to be a connection with ITP and migraine. Platelets carry serotonin, and serotonin is involved in mood, sleep, and migraine. Makes sense to me. I just wish someone would figure out whether it is a cause or an effect, and is that a key to some relief?

I was told that fatique and headaches are definite symptoms of ITP. My 14 year old also has trouble going to sleep - but I believe it partially is linked to just being a teen!

Yes,yes,yes.....i've found that when Devyns counts drop he seems to get restless at night, at first i tought it was just because he was 2 and not the best sleeper but then i noticed a pattern wih his low counts....when he is higher he sleeps very well. He just got over the flu and is showing signs of low counts right now....the past 2 nights he has been very restless. I have a hard time beleiving that this isn't a symptom common with ITP. We go for a CBC today so we'll see if my theory about them being very low right now is right

Hey Ali,

I received a phone call from his Peditrician at around 9pm telling me that his counts were at 17,000.....were still waiting to hear from the hemo at mcmaster to see what course of action needs to be taken. I had to talk his Pedi out of making us go to the local hospital to have him admitted, he is very cautious when it comes to his counts. I knew that they would be low because he is fighting off the stomach flu that has been going around our family. I hate this waiting game!!! I can only assume that they will do a repeat CBC and if it's still that low or lower then they will want to treat with IVIG. I have very mixed emotions about it. I think that we should wait to see after he has gotten rid of this stomach bug.....
