Ugh it was a long bloody night was created by jsmjboertlein
Jon started bleeding and bruising around 12 last night and it was off and on for a couple hours. Then he became sick with cold like symptoms. We are waiting for a call from his ped. to see what to do next. He's a bruised up mess and his mood is something straight out of a Stephen King novel.

It was a nosebleed and his platelets were 343,000. His joints swelled up too, so they had him stay the night at the ER for observation and finally a doctor took notice of the fact that he's got all of the symptoms of ITP without low platelets, and referred him to St.Jude!! I'm so happy someone finally listened to me that there is something else wrong and that ITP was just a symptom of whatever it is. They actually referred him to St. Jude and Children's Memorial as an emergent patient.

I'd be very intreasted to hear the results of that test, my ped thinks that devyn may have that and wants to run that test as well but the hemo has said that there is no connection of celiac and low platelets..... Definitly keep us updated!!

His test came back today. It's not celiac's. There is a connection between Celiac's and certain Anemias and Certain Anemas can be linked to ITP. You have to do a ton of research to find it all, but it's def. there. My son's hem. also tried to tell me there's no connection between ITP and many other symptoms that I learned once I got on this site, there is def. a connection. It's just not in the medical journals yet, so they think it doesn't exist. They need to listen to the moms cause a mamma knows her baby better than any learned physician. I left him and we are seeing a new Hem in St. Jude this week. SSOoooooooooooooooo....... I had put my little one on the celiacs diet plan after they ran his blood just in case and he's been a different child since then. No bleeding, bruising, aches, pains, or mood swings. He said, "Mommy even if it's not Celiacs can I please stay on the diet, it makes me feel good." That coming out of a 4 year old's mouth is good enough for me and we are now a gluten free home.

How long has he been on the celiac diet?? I have been playing with the idea of doing the glueten free diet as well, i'm a dietary cook in a retirement home and we have alot of residents on that diet so i'm use to cooking glueten free. I've heard a few people on here say the same about switching to the celiac's diet....really make you wonder.
