My daughter continues to do very well on Promacta. As her doses have been decreasing her counts have been going up significantly. She is on 12.5mg currently and her count rose to 300k. She is going to decrease to 3 days a week and if the count stays therapeutic (75 to 100K) she try stopping the medication! Yeah!

The pediatric hematologists, for as much as they have a conservative approach to starting medication therapy are a little slow with decreasing it - she was doing well, feeling well and they did not want the counts bouncing all over. Of course with how much her counts have increased (I think when she first dropped to 12.5 maybe 2.5 months ago the first count was 90k) I am pretty hopeful that it is not a fluke and hopefully she will be able to stop with the medication.

I am also relieved - we really like her doctors. They are Pediatric hematology group but will continue to follow her for at least another year or two. From my experience (which may be limited) adult doctors are more aggressive with medications and I like the more laid back approach. I am oping that by the time that she needs to move on her treatment plan will be established.
