Dougie's count a fortnight ago was an amazing 85! Even he said he couldn't quite believe it

Yes, we were joking that it should be tested as a new ITP cure - Dougie hasn't had counts anything like that for years ;)

Is it an antibiotic? Sometimes counts do go up with antibiotics.

Accutane (isotretinoin) is known to cause thrombocytopenia, reversibly, by suppressing bone marrow production. However, cases of thrombocytosis (the opposite of thrombocytopenia) have also been reported.

FactMed.com lists the likelihood of thrombocytopenia with Accutane at 1.087%, and thrombocytosis at .047%.

You might want to let Dougie pick some lottery numbers for you!

Just thought I would update. Dougie hasn't had another test recently but he's still looking good so we are assuming adequate platelets. Today he ran his first ever half marathon - came in just under two hours. ITP does not necessarily have to change your dreams :-)
