please help me understand something!?! with my 3yr

Hello my name is April, I have a3 year old son to about 5 weeks ago began to have a fever of 102 degrees, his fever lasted about 3 days where it came back 103 degrees, they told me he tested positive for strep the same day his fever spiked to 105 degrees where I took him in to the ER they tested him for strep again came back negative. His temperature went back to normal, then it dropped the next two days 96 degrees. They finally did a blood test for viral and bacterial infections in his blood where everything came back normal, so they did a CBC where everything was normal except his platelet count was 617 he has no symptoms of being sick he's a little pale I just don't know what it could be any advice would help they did another CBC last week it came back platelets were still 517 any advice on possible issues thank so much, ( he has not been diagnosed with anything yet I just would like some information)

An elevated platelet count is called thrombocytosis. It can be a temporary reaction to an infection. The fact that your son's platelets dropped from 617 to 517 is a good sign, and at that rate he will be within the normal range (below 450) in several days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is nothing more than a reaction to a bad case of strep that got better. What are his doctors saying? Are they planning to follow up with another blood test to be sure his platelets return to normal?

My doctors don't say anything, except they don't know why he's sick or why his platelets are high or why he's having fevers or any of it. this has just been going on for well over a month with No definite answers so I'm just really concerned about it,and if there something else I should be trying to get him to a different doctor to take care of it faster, maybe over reacting I'm just really worried.

I can't speak for the fevers, but his platelets are okay. A bit above normal for now, but doctors are not usually concerned unless they get to a million. As Rob said, it's probably a temporary reaction from an infection.

If the fevers don't stop, you'd need to pursue that.

April, perhaps I misunderstood. What are your son's current symptoms that concern you?

He has NO current symptoms, he hasn't had a fever in probably 3 weeks, right now it's ONLY the high platelets. All other test are normal

With no other symptoms besides high platelets, I would not worry, because high platelets are a natural result of the previous infection, and it takes them a while to get back to normal. If it buys you peace of mind, you might ask for a follow up CBC to verify that platelets are back to normal, but you doctor may refuse, saying it is unnecessary.
