Itp - hand foot and mouth disease? was created by Calouk
Hi, my 6 month old baby has ITP. Platelets are currently in their teens. We're managing, but my question was around whether anyone has experienced Itp and hand foot and mouth disease. My 2.5 year old son's childcare centre has had an outbreak, and tonight during his bath I've seen a couple of blisters. Yes, without having seen a GP yet I'm pretty sure he's got it (had it once before). As it's so contagious - I'm worried about the baby - anyone with experience of Hand foot and mouth with ITP?? I'm seeing her specialist in a couple of days, will mention then of course.

Any illness can cause counts to drop, so I'd watch for that. It's also possible that they won't drop.

Other than that, if the baby gets it, you'd just treat it the same way as your other child. Your pediatrician should guide you.
