ITP w/ high ALT liver enzyme levels?? was created by lamonica
My son just hit the 5 year mark with ITP and thankfully has been stable w/ platelets between 30-50k without treatments the last few years. He had his annual visit with the hematologist/oncologist at Children's yesterday and were alerted that his ALT levels are high (115) when normal is 10-50. A couple of other labs were slightly off. The dr said to follow up with our local pediatrician in 2 weeks, has anyone else had this issue with their kids?

Elevated LFT's shouldn't be related to ITP unless recent treatments caused high liver levels. Some liver problems can cause low platelets, so his doctors might want to look at that, but if the elevated ALT is recent, that might be unlikely.

I remember a child here a few years ago who had a high ALT, and he was diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease. It could be a number of things though. Hopefully his pediatrician will refer you to the right specialist.
