I'm calling her Caitlin #2 because of the other Caitlin who has had such tremendous success with Rituxan!

We've been on here (off & on) since 2007 when Caitlin was first diagnosed at age 8. After many treatments did not really work, she began a trial for Nplate and is STILL on the trial! She is doing WONDERFUL! Last count earlier this week was 178 and she is still on the minimum dose and has been for the past 2 1/2 years. She is going on her 5th year of Nplate injections.
Caitlin reached a new milestone this week. She self-injected for the very first time and she was so terrified to do it! She gave herself the shot in her stomach and I was so proud of her! I am not sure that I would have been brave enough to do it. The styringe is too large for her to administer it in her arm and she doesn't have enough fat or skin to pull on her leg to administer it there. Hoping she gets comfortable doing it herself so she is taken care of when she is not able to be at home.
Caitlin continues to be involved on a competitive cheer team. We have moved her to one of the largest gyms in the world and she made the top team there so we are really looking forward to this season! None of this would be possible without a successful treatment plan in place for her. She also turned 15 two months ago so we are about to send her to driving school, ouch! I hope all is well with everyone on here and those who are in remission, stay in remission. Those who have endured this a long time, don't give up hope. I know many of you do not let ITP take over your child's life. Keep it that way with the common sense of knowing when to get help and when to let things go.
