I have a 2 year old that has chronic ITP he has had it for about 8 months. About 8 weeks ago his counts dropped down to 13 and we did an IVIG treatment. Since the treatment his counts have been holding in the 30's and this week they are 70 he tends to fluctuate alot. My question is does anyone notice their child being cold when their counts are on the lower end. He tends to want to wear a jacket in the house and his hands stay ice cold most of the time? I try and dress him warm but always have to add a jacket which he askes for. I am new to all of this so I didn't know if this was common or not. I also notice him being very tired even when his counts are 70 it seems that this number and below he has great fatigue. We have tried to take aways his pacifer and only use it at nap time but he is constanly tired and wants his paci and he will lay down even without it. Has anyone else experienced any of this.

My 8 year old son is the same way. He is tired most of the time. He wears extra clothes during the day but I only put him in underwear at night because he has terrible night sweats. He now doesn't want to eat and has started losing weight :( His platelets are all over the place as well. 0 one week and then 180 the next week. Doesn't make much sense, I know. I have heard different stories of ITP and different ways children react to ITP but it is much harder when it is your child. I was told originally by my Hem/Onc that my child would not have any symptoms at all ITP other than bleeding or petechiae or bruising. This we found out very quickly, was untrue. I hope your baby feels better soon! Glad we have this board with other moms and dads to discuss our feelings.

For an adult who was always cold and having fatigue at counts over 30, I'd recommend that they have their thyroid checked.

I'm 32 and I am always cold, I had my thyroid check came back normal. Even when my counts went up to 105 I was still cold. Doctor told me everyone with ITP has different side effects and one of my is always being cold.

My son complained about cold for the first week or so of having ITP, but not in the four or so years since then. But I think this is reasonably common - I remember April saying that her daughter was permanently cold too.

My daughter has times when she isexremely tired and it really affectsher concentration.

I haven't noticed her complain that she is cold, but in the summer when we she is playing in the pool in the garden her lips and face go blue very quickly but no other childrens do. There have also been other times when she has turned blue. I never thought this was related but maybe it is.

I have noticed his lips turning blue also not all the time but when he is in water after a bath etc they do. Maybe that is related also.
