Just wondering if anyone out there has a child with ITP and asked their doctor about them getting on rides. I have a son just diagnosed with ITP in Sept. and appears this may end up being chronic. 15 years old. Last platelet count 43. He was asking if he could ride rides at an amusement park and I really don't know.

Just curious.

I think it would depend on the kid and their propensity to bleeding. My son doesn't bleed even at low counts, and his consultant has ok'ed him to go to theme parks with any count over 30K. We went last summer and his count was in the 40s at the time. I've asked this question myself though, and other people seem to have been set much higher limits. Like any ITP question, I don't think there is a single "right" answer.
