Caitlin's recent CBC-post Rituxan was created by wildroseao@aol.com
Hello old and new friends--

Caitlin got a CBC at a doc. appt. last week, so I'm updating with official numbers.....
238K, people,:woohoo: eight years, four months after her first and only series of Rituxan infusions in Sept.-Oct. 2002.

She's training Seeing Eye dogs and taking care of manatees and loves it all! Last week, she went horseback riding for the first time in a long while! She's a busy, busy girl---and we are so grateful!

This lifestyle has been brought to her by...Rituxan. Thank you, wise ones! Ann, Caitlin's (23) Mom

Hey Ann - it's Michelle

Danica did four rounds of Rituximab. She started November 29, and had her last dose on December 20. It has been over 2 months since her last dose, and we still have not seen any improvement (she still needs ivig every two weeks).

I was just wondering how long it took to see an improvment with Caitlin following Rituximab

Michelle - mom to Danica - age 13
Diagnosed 8-6-09
No response with Prednisone, WinRho or Rituximab.
over 60 IVIg infusions (every two weeks)
Three Decadron pulses - count was up while on the Decadron, and then fell as soon as it was stopped. SPLENECTOMY done 7-June-2011 Last count 594

Hi Michelle--

Caitlin's response was pretty immediate--though she had a few ups and downs.

She was at 33K three days before starting, 71K 4 days after dose 1, 132K on the day of dose 2, 171 four days later, when she was dx'd with pneumonia. Then 136K a week later, and 115K a week after that. Two weeks later, 104K then 140K then 225K about 6 weeks after last dose.

Even if someone doesn't respond with great numbers, some find that other treatments work better after Rituxan, or that their counts, while not sky-high, allow for some relief, if not some riskier fun stuff.... Has any of that happened for Danica? I remember the feeling--how long can this go ON already!? She hasn't tried N-Plate yet...? Hope you can climb on a rocket soon! Ann Caitlin's (23) Mom

Yay Ann! That is wonderful! I am so happy she continues to do well.

We are now at 4 years post Rituxan and Isaac is doing well too! (October 2006) I don't have a recent count, and that in and of itself makes me happy!
